1) Establishment

The United Nations Association of Japan (hereafter referred to as ‘the Association’) was established in 1947 as a successor of the League of Nations Association of Japan, and has devoted itself to the United Nations more than 70years.
At the time of its establishment, Japan was yet to become a member of the United Nations, and so the Association naturally focused its activities on the diffusion of knowledge on the UN throughout Japan as well as the promotion of Japan’s admission to the UN.
The goal of the Association it to realize ideals/principles of the UN through nationwide activities: e.g., the diffusion of knowledge on the UN as well as international affairs, study and research on the UN and international issues, and closer contacts with other organizations, domestic and foreign, which have common purposes with the Association.
